I heard a while back on Radio 1, that Edith Bowman had a friend that referred to a Woodlouse, as a cheese log. When I heard this, I was most confused, as I’d never heard this before and seemed like a rediculous name. A Google search didn’t bring up much either, so I assumed it was a one off thing. However, when watching QI, Steven Fry did in fact talk about Woodlice being called a cheese log.
I’m sorry, but, Cheese log? Can someone PLEASE fill me in as to why a Woodlouse would be called a cheese log?
Then you get those who refer to a woodlouse as a chucky pig, which again, I do not understand. Where the origin on Chucky pig came from I do not know.
For me, it’s a woodlouse. It’s a louse that spends a lot of time around wood – making that name fairly self explanatory. Until these guys turn into log shaped pieces of cheese, my preference will not budge.
