As with any festival, the weather does play a very important part. It decided what we wear, what we sleep in, where we go, and essentially, how the festival runs as a whole. But with Glastonbury being famous for it’s thick mud, it’s always the big question – what will the weather be like?

Being late June, which is prime season for heavy showers, Glastonbury is expected to be muddy. Metcheck is the main website for long range weather forecast, and was the main focus of tens of thousands of people before the festival, up to a month before. Initially, the forecast wasn’t good.

Were we really going to expect winds in excess of 1000mps, and several km of rain? No, I didn’t think so either.

In the end, the somewhat questionable weather turned out to be excellent. In fact I had no problems at all. The sun was beaming down over the whole weekend, giving us temperatures in the region of 23c. A little cloud cover was there to shade on the odd occasion, and the little rain downpour (and thunderstorm) gave us less than a day of mud. After all, what would Glastonbury be without mud?

Compared to 2007, where mud was ankle deep in most areas, it was a welly haters dream. Nearly everyone was walking around in trainers or flipflops, some even in bare feet. Even better, being able to sit on the ground was a rare site.

Lets keep our fingers crossed for 2010!
