Hey all,
I have two chinese ooths waiting to hatch (the other one hatched on me about a week ago).
I noticed today that on on of the ooths there appears to be a couple of small patches of white mould. If this is the case, and it is mould growing on the ooth, could this be harmful to the eggs inside?
Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, what can be done to help?
Thanks!

I've never experienced it. But I have heard mold growth can ruin ootheca, you will need someone else to confirm this though. I think usually the reason is the ooth being exposed to too much humidity.

If you've caught it in time, it should be fine. Just scrape off what is there, and then make sure your incubator stays nice and ventilated, to prevent future moulding.

Thanks Ian. I have pulled off the couple of patches, and I dried out the container thoroughly.
Haven't seen anymore 'out-breaks' yet, but will keep an eye on things. I have sprayed a little water back in there now to keep the humidity up.
One more thing; the nymphs that have already hatched out, how often should I be spraying them with water? At the moment I'm doing it about twice a day, because each time I look in their pots they've dried out.
Is this too much? I'm worried about mould getting in with them if it's too damp see.
Do they need a constant water supply when they're really young?
I'm down to about 40 now and don't really wanna lose anymore!
Thanks!
