Would it be possible to feed an adult mantid mainly on meal worms?

You could, but they are said to be fatty and would not be good for it. Really needs crickets, earthworms, flies, moths stuff like that and the mealworms.

mealworms are good feeders for my mantis and also source of calcium,it just my own observasion

yeah mealworms are alright, the only problem is thier movement doesnt stimulate the praying mantis alot, they prefer things that have lots of flappy wings and move fast and erratically, try wax worms, mine love the moths that they hatch into!
