Well - after umming and arring for many weeks I have finally done it. I have ordered my first ooth :D Have to wait about 21 day for it to come so I have pleanty of time to prepair!
I have spair heat mats and jars/tubs and a forever lasting supply of fruit flys at the ready....
But any added information about taking care of my ooth would be good, thank you in advance!!
Which is the best kind of tub to hatch my babies in to? Roughly how long 'should' it take before you know you have a 'bad' ooth?

Hoooo excited now

Congrats on your first purchase! The best method of ootheca incubation is hanging. I threat a fine piece of cotton through the very top of the ootheca, thus not killing any eggs. Tape, or somehow fix the cotton to the top of the jar, so it hangs down the middle, suspended above the ground. This way, when the ootheca hatches, the nymphs can freely dangle downwards.

For the Chinese Mantis (Tenodera Sp.) the best conditions are around 25-30c, (standard tempderature for a lot of ootheca) and spray 2-3 times a week. After about 4-5 weeks, you will know that the ooth is probably dud!

Cheers,
Ian
