I don't think males of the Carausius are available. This species is parthenogenetic, thus produce all female offspring.
I am almost certain males are not available in captivity...although someone feel free to correct me ;)

I think they are rare but do turn up every so often (something like 1 in 10000). But does anyone know how to get them quicker.

Hi

to tell the difference between male and female is that the male is smaller and are more of a dark brown as we have about 4 males with our females the males do not lay eggs only the female but the female does not need a male to provide young.

Don't quote me on it as i'm not sure if its true but i heard that to increase your chances of hatching a male you have to keep the eggs at around 30 degrees C for the first 24 days after being laid. Never tried it myself though

Well personally, I thought if the parents of the eggs were pathenogenetic females, then they would only produce female offspring.
I could be wrong however...
