mine usually sway while thier eating? it doesn't seem to be a fright reflex with them, i've noticed though that when they are intimedated they crouch down close to whatever surface they are on

NO one seems to see what I see, that is odd, Ian have u any dealing s with this species? If scared they sway back and forth faster than I can wiggle a finger.

I have noticed a fair few species sway, especially if you gently blow them, or there is a gust. But never seen them swaying when they have been unprovoked.

Can't say I have only noticed it in the Sphods though...

YES! - :) they sway gently when they are interested in something or watching/blending in before they eat something, but if you startle them they sit there and go like there's no tomorrow for a bit - the first time I fed them big crickets (I had a food supply issue and ended up going from tiny crickets to big crickeys with nothing in between ...) they did it, at least until they figured out the crickets were harmless.

yeah i think there's a difference between them swaying, and swaying AT something, you know that owls bob thier heads from side to side as a means of judging distance, i always thought it was a similar thing going on

yea but this aint swaying, they go real fast, back and forth sideways, and it goes on and on.
wish I could show u it.

I tried to get one to sway real fast like hibiscusmile is talking about so I could post a link to a video on here - thus far unsuccessful ... if I ever manage to get them on video, I'll post a link!

my camera will take video, but apparently I'm not scary enough ... they just look at me and try to climb on me. Apparently I need to work on that ... haha

haha yeah mine do the same, the only time they sway side to side is when thier either having a look at something or munching a cricket, and they do that alot less now thier a bit older.

do yours ever wave their arms at your face?

also i've observed my sister feeding mine water from her finger??

yeah i think the reason why mine arn't doing that is cos thier a bit elderly now, the oldest is even starting to fall off his perch! i need some young blood!

yeah i noticed that when he perches on the lid he hangs low too, my mum found him face down in the substrate last night but this morning i helped him eat a meal worm so he's still hanging on in there... or dangling? lol
